The Chair Force Engineer does a great job of summing up my attitude problem at work:
The morale of engineers is directly tied to the work they are given by their management. If you want to keep engineers happy, give them tasks that are worthy of their efforts. When management fails to do that, they have nobody to blame for poor morale but themselves. He's planning on moving on to non-technical non-government work. I wish him luck. Hopefully he'll discover there's some places in the world where engineers have work worth doing.
