selenite0A couple weeks ago I got tapped to compare a couple of configuration reports, ie find the differences between two fairly similar 10MB text files. I was specifically told to use MS Access since that's what we use to store this kind of info. So I started wrestling with the user interface to get it to tell me what I needed to know. After a week I gave up. Went to B&N and bought a SQL book. In two days I managed to learn enough SQL coding to produce the reports I couldn't get the GUI to give me at all.
I don't even want to know how much Microsoft is getting paid to make databases even more difficult to use.
In their defense, I suspect MS Access makes it really easy for a sales manager to tell how much product his troops are moving, but it's so focused on that it's unusable for any other application.
