Yeah... I really, really don't like Bush's non-foriegn policies in a lot of places, but I dunno about Kerry. We owe Iraq a stable government that is as democratic as they want. Pulling out too quickly, giving up... That would be at least as bad, if not worse, than going in there in the first place.
It would make all deaths meaningless if there's nothing stable built. Sacrifice should buy something, not just be a particularly egregious entry into constant bloodshed and turmoil.
Growf.
But I need to read more Kerry, I suspect, and see what he's saying there. If he's smart, he'll adopt that responsibility, at least...
Yep. I believe in "you break it, you bought it." I worry about the people who want "break it, bring it home, put it out in a garage sale and see if anyone'll give you a quarter for it."
Kerry's making a series of speeches on defense this week, I want to read them all.
However, Kerry just put together an "Advisory Panel" of 11 retired flag officers to assist him on defense issues.
They are:
Admiral William Crowe (USN, Ret.) Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General John Shalikashvili (USA, Ret.) Former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Tony McPeak (USAF, Ret.) Former US Air Force Chief of Staff Admiral Stansfield Turner, (USN, Ret.) Former Director, Central Intelligence Agency General Joseph Hoar (USMC, Ret) Former Commander-in-Chief, US Central Command General Wesley Clark (USA, Ret.) Former Supreme Allied Commander Europe General Johnnie Wilson, (USA, Ret.) Former Commander, US Army Material Command LTG Daniel Christman (USA, Ret.) Former Superintendent US Military Academy LTG General Kennedy (USA, Ret.) Former Deputy Army Chief of Staff for Intelligence Vice Admiral Lee Gunn (USN, Ret.) Former Inspector General, US Navy Major General Harry Jenkins (USMC, Ret.) Former Chief Legislative Liaison US Marine Corps
Some high-powered - and talented - names on that list.
