Stephen Green wrote up the Game Plan for the war, stressing the need to maintain the initiative and how unpredictable the post-war world is after every war.

Jeff Medcalf elaborated on this with an emphasis on the cultural aspect of the war, including the need for missionary work not just to break the will of the enemy but also to strengthen the faith of our own people in Western culture.

This was clearly getting too serious, so I suggested:

I'm thinking of missionary work, pagan missionaries could have a big impact. If we really want to produce an "Allah, why have you forsaken us?" reaction, a skyclad Beltaine in the ruins of Mecca is probably the best option.

Jeff's reply:

Well, Karl, I think the part that would really disturb them would be when we roasted the whole pig for the celebratory feast. I hear they have a black stone that would make a great carving slab...

And you've got all those white clothes worn by the hajii that would make such wonderful napkins for BBQ ribs.....

Okay, clearly I *do* have sensibilities. *Odd* sensibilities, granted, but sensibilities nonetheless.

Because it was all just Good Clean Fun until the "pig on the black stone" bit. But some things are Just Wrong.

So the pig will have to be carved somewhere else. But ya know, to really impress the locals with the sanctity of Western neo-pagan ritual, the Beltane Great Rite (performed literally for the occasion, of course) really ought to be done someplace *really* visible. Maybe on top of this big black stone.... :-D

The 'big black stone' was a Goddess artifact before it was co-opted, so possibly the Beltaine thing is a good idea!

I can't kick, I was the one who wanted to drop Vietnam surplus SPAM cans out of planes. Bwahaha. Treif bombs, or whatever the appropriate Muslim phrase is.

Maybe we can get Rev. Jim to reprise his Pagan Tent Revival sermon for the ... well 'heathens' is not the right term...

I just do not see why the one would be okay if the other isn't...

Or is it that you don't want to volunteer for the one, but will for the other, you vegetarian slutty boy you? :-P

There was a "laughing" emoticon at the end of that. I *knew* my suggestion was just as objectionable as the pork BBQ. Which was kind of the point, really.

Clearly I need to work on my written delivery of punch lines. :-(
