Fast-track to Remainder Bin
Dec. 14th, 2005 11:19 amWent to Wal-Mart the other night. On the one hand, it's great to see a big Serenity poster at the entrance pushing the DVD sales. OTOH, what the heck does this cover have to do with the movie? I don't remember River ever having that expression in the movie, and Summer Glau doesn't have blue eyes. The main focus is on this incoherent riot or battle or something that was never in the movie. It looks like all the marketing people trying new and innovative ideas to push Serenity got fired, and the intern was told "Make a cover picture. Try for something like Attack of the Clones. Or Buffy. And don't sweat it, kid, nobody but the hardcore fans is going to buy this anyway."
Meanwhile, it looks like we're going to receive the answer to the question What happens if you drop a Mary Sue into a Heterodyne Boys story?

Date: 2005-12-14 07:54 pm (UTC)There are reasons, good reasons, why I believe the story that Miyazaki threw the VCR out the window when he saw the butcher-job that was done on poor Nausicaa.
(You think she's a Mary Sue too, eh? Muwhahahaha! It's the Maria name, dead giveaway.)
