We're a two-computer family currently--my computer is Anvil and [livejournal.com profile] celticdragonfly uses Agatha. Anvil was acting a little flaky lately, freezing up so bad I'd have to unplug it to reboot. On Friday it started hanging during boot-up. With odd noises from the hard drive. So it got shut down to deal with later--we had to prep for the housefilk.

This morning I made breakfast for our houseguests. [livejournal.com profile] tmc4242 hadn't wanted to chance the icestorm and [livejournal.com profile] kd5mdk and [livejournal.com profile] jazz007 were making a long weekend of it. Once the meal had settled we took a look at it. Turned out to be just overheating. Once we had the dust out of the heat sink and fan it booted up with no hitch. I'd been backing up my key files, but now I've got them all copied to another drive.

And my next computer won't be named after an inanimate chunk of metal.

Finally made it home after the TAS board meeting.

Glad to hear Anvil is still up and running. Still seems too easy. Fingers crossed it stays fixed.

Thanks for the crash space last night. The filk was great fun as usual. I'm about to do a bit of experimenting to figure out the details of lj picture posting. I figure at the very least the pictures Gerry's frog inspection and Rhiannon's electric hair should be shared. :-) I'll see what else I got too. Haven't downloaded everything from the camera yet.

You're quite welcome, we're happy to have the company. I'm looking forward to those pictures too.

BTW, if you're thinking of adding icons, this one could be a good start.

Makes sense to me.

One of the things I'm bringing back to Doha with me at the end of March is a new power supply for my G4. The old one is making bad fan noises, and I don't want to risk the silly thing going down when it's bloody hard to get parts for in BFQ

When you put it that way, the current name does sound like an invitation for Bad Computing Karma. *g*

Yes, I was reflecting on that Saturday . . .

Though I have some history with names getting opposite results. I named my Mac SE Messalina and it never betrayed me.
