Toddler as Coquette
Aug. 15th, 2003 07:44 pmMaggie's mastery of flirtation and coyness amaze me. It was bad enough when she started playing hard-to-get when Daddy asks for a kiss: No, but I'll let you kiss my cheek. I was left standing there wondering "how did she learn that? I thought girls had to join sororities to learn all those tricks."
Today we were letting her have a run-around in the mall. I was sitting on one of those back-to-back benches when another baby popped up and I said "hi" to her. Maggie immediately rushed over, climbed up on the bench, gave me a hug and laid her head against my chest, then stood up and started making friends with the other baby. Had to mark her territory first: This is my Daddy.
