Taking the question seriously - barrister and solicitor? If it's just solicitor, then the answer is no. If it can also perform as a barrister (and win reasonably often!), then yes, I would say that it does - arguing a case in court could have sufficiently unexpected twists for it to qualify. (Especially cross-examination!)

I'm not sure the system SUCCESSFULLY practiced law. Merely represented itself as a lawyer. Of course, the people appeared to believe it, so maybe you're right.

As [livejournal.com profile] kd5mdk noted, the system referred to isn't there yet, but if it could become proficient - and update itself - well, it's still not Turing, but it would be impressive and I think it is doable. Barring bars from the Bar.
