I understand you're upset when people's words don't match their actions. But "hippocracy" means "government by horses" which is a completely different problem.

So what's the word for government by hippos?

Hippopotamocracy, I think. Not to be confused with hiphopocracy, the tribal government practiced by the Wu Tang Clan.

Would a Hippopotocratic Theocracy, then, be a government of hippo worshippers?

Wouldn't a Hippocraticocracy of Doctor-Kings be the ultimate goal of House's Republic?

There's a reason why I block anonymous comments. It raises the intelligence level of a discussion.

So centaurs would have hippocracy as their form of government?

Most of the ones I've seen have seemed like anarchists.

government by horses" which is a completely different problem.

No kidding. It would be oats and apples and no curry combs .. all .. the .. time.

Plus they'd enact a special rule where they get one free kick at the farrier. Which wouldn't be much fun come shoeing time.

Thanks, I needed the giggle.

So what would the word be for a government of horses' asses?

In practice, simply "government" tends to suffice.

Coming from someone who works at a horse farm, I'm not sure that hippocracy is such a bad idea. Sure, the lowest in the hierarchy wouldn't get much hay, but I'm betting it would be a whole lot better than what we have now. With much more grass, and apples and carrots.

Goodness knows there are a lot of days when I like the horses in my life more than many of the people.

It's certainly not the worst alternative out there.
