Sen. McCain said he'd entertain being Kerry's Veep. Then he said "It's impossible to imagine the Democratic Party seeking a pro-life, free-trading, non-protectionist, deficit hawk. They'd have to be taking some steroids, I think, in order to let that happen."

Guess not.

Sigh. Is voting for someone so much to ask?

McCain-Nader. I'm trying to imagine their platform. Actually, trying to imagine the two of them in the same place gives me a picture of a cage surrounded by people chanting "Two men enter! One man leaves!"

...That was more or less the picture in my mind, generated by the press coverage of Dean versus Kerry.

The last few elections for me, have been less about which of the two parties best personifies 'the' american mood of the moment, and more about how deeply entrenched are the parasitic snakes sucking out the brains of US governance. To me it makes little difference whether this process is characterized by a republican flag, or a democratic flag. As long as enough people can be alienated from the polls and the issues, it's largely a matter of window dressing.

I guess in that sense, you might call me a lukewarm Bush supporter, since I'm seriously considering not going to the polls for the first time since I've been eligable to vote. It's the most articulate way I know of saying, 'a pox on both your houses!'

I've voted libertarian to say that, except for voting for Perot in '92. But I can't stomach the libertarian party any more. That would leave . . . Nader.

I don't think I could do it.
