Rain, Rain
Jun. 29th, 2004 11:38 pmWe got a gas grill so I could do some traditional Texas cooking. Friday I picked up some hamburger so I could make the first meal on it this weekend.
Tonight I made one last attempt to go grill . . . it was just drizzling a little . . . and as I lifted up the lid it started pouring again. So I made us Hamburger Helper.
Sigh.

Date: 2004-06-30 08:04 am (UTC)But we've got a decent shot at breaking the 1928 record for rainest June ever in Fort Worth today (11.6"). Only need another 1.2 inches and we got 2.6 yesterday. That's a bit more than I was hoping for.
Heretic!
BZZZT! Thanks for playing. The cowboys out on the lone prairiee didn't have propane, silly. Chuckwagons used wood or charcoal. Or, one supposes, dried cow patties when wood was scarce, but I'm not that severe an authenticity policeman.
On the other hand, I really do know about the safety factors around children of gas vs. something that could tip over and spill hot coals on little people.
Well, happy times and yummy grilling, whenever the weather permits!
